HI, I’M EMILIE!

Product Designer

Branding & Content Strategist

Fitness Trainer & Wellness Coach

After working in health and fitness on-and-off for the past 9 years, I guide working professionals to strive for a holistic and balanced lifestyle in their fast-paced lives. After experiencing physical burnout myself earlier this year (2024), I am focused on educating others on how to reduce stress in their regular work routine, build healthier habits in their personal lives, and carve out space for self-care and energy regulation.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, I moved to Berlin in late 2020 to explore the tech startup scene during a time when I realized I needed a shift in my own life goals and opportunities. Growing up as a native English speaker in Canada, there came a transformational journey to land in a new continent and city to meet other expats and digital nomads who wanted to connect with their own global community and work on their well-being.

I became a UX/UI Designer after taking a considerate career break from working in social media management and employer branding for tech startups. I have always been a fan of lean and agile practices and the principles of design thinking which allows purposeful design to exist and be re-iterated on based on changing user needs.

I also help organize meetups in the city with the berlin product managers team. We facilitate monthly, in-person meetups at different offices and event venues in the city to bring together like-minded, senior-level product managers to network, learn on new topics, and expand in their growth together.

I host a dinner series called A Dinner Ritual focused on creating a different Asian-inspired meal together. Attendees get to leave feeling grounded and more connected with each other as they learn new recipes, chat, cook, and eat together in a fuss-free, unpretentious environment in Berlin.

When I’m not working or organizing events, I love trying new healthy recipes, doing yoga with friends, traveling and exploring new areas of the city by bike, finding cute brunch cafes and coworking spaces to work from, working out and doing board sports and being in nature.

As an advocate for mental health and physical literacy, I hope to bridge the gap between our stressful, Type-A lifestyles that run our physical bodies down by implementing more mindfulness, creativity, and optimism into an alternative, sustainable lifestyle. I believe the production and interpretation of art in its many forms: drawing, painting, performance, music, poetry, written prose, interpretative dance, etc. has incredible therapeutic benefits to relax and soothe our busy, logical monkey-minds, but also repair and reduce the destructive and aging properties of physiological stress on the body.

The magic about making art (and one of the biggest misconceptions) is that you don't have to be good at it just to create it. There are many therapeutic benefits of being in this Flow state that enhances memory retention, creative thinking and problem solving, and navigating through fears and mental barriers.

I believe in rebirth (or Samsara in Sanskrit) in everything that we do - it is an important concept to grasp in the creative industry, as ideas are constantly in flux, given energy to flourish, lived out to its fullest potential, and then left to decay to make room for newer ideas and energy.

This acceptance that death and rebirth are constantly among us allows for the cyclical flow of allowing growth to permeate in the most effortless way possible.
